Your Best Chances are Now Open to Selection Your Energy Provider

Did you know that you have the right to freely change your energy supplier? In its annual barometer 2020 edition, reveals that 30% of people do not feel well informed about the opening of energy markets. However, this liberalization gives the opportunity to make great savings on your electricity or gas bill, thanks to more competitive prices. It is also an opportunity to support the ecological transition by choosing green energy among the multiplicity of offers. For Changing Energy Provider and bringing the new arrangements, the following are the most essential.

Why Change Energy Supplier?

In 2020, energy consumption is a major concern for 8 out of 10 households, according to the Energy-Info barometer. So, why not take the opportunity to easily take out a contract with a new supplier? This choice can prove to be a winner, both economically and ecologically.

To Get a Better Price

The average price of electricity continues to climb, with an increase of 1.54% in August 2020 and 1.6% in February 2021. For gas, it’s + 4.4% in June 2021. It is therefore understandable why the promise of a lower price is often the main driving force behind the change of energy supplier.

You should know that in terms of electricity and gas, the amount of your bill depends on several parameters that fluctuate from one supplier to another. The selling price of energy includes, in fact:

  • A fixed cost, that is to say the subscription;
  • A variable cost, proportional to your consumption in kWh.
  • Changing energy supplier is therefore the opportunity to find a cheaper contract thanks to a lower fixed price.

This is the reduction that you can expect to obtain on your annual bill, an energy broker, by changing the supply of electricity and gas.

To Switch To Green Energy

Green energy mainly refers to renewable energies that are cleaner than fossil fuels, from sustainable sources. For example, we can name wind energy, hydraulic energy, solar energy, geothermal energy or energy from biomass. Choosing a green energy supplier can limit your environmental impact by reducing your carbon footprint.

Green Electricity and Its Guarantees of Origin

The people are increasingly turning to these offers, which represent 27% of electricity consumption.

For an offer to be considered green, the supplier must prove the integration into the grid of a share of green electricity equal to the consumption of the customers of the offer in question. For this, the company buys guarantees of origin (GO) from renewable energy producers. There are two forms of so-called green electricity offers:

The standard green offerings (most common): the provider is responsible for obtaining the necessary GO, but your electricity does not necessarily come from a sustainable source. You nevertheless contribute to the development of renewable energies and to sending a strong signal in terms of energy transition.

The premium green deals: they reflect a stronger commitment from the supplier. The latter buys both electricity and GOs from local renewable energy producers.

Green Gas or Biogas

There are fewer green gas contracts (from anaerobic digestion) than green electricity. However, you will have the choice between two types of offers:

Have you taken out an offer containing biogas? Good news: you benefit from a reduction in the full rate of the internal consumption tax on natural gas. This reduction is proportional to the quantity of green gas incorporated into the natural gas networks.
