Maintaining a better lifestyle amidst COVID-19- Some handy tips

There are several things that you should keep in mind with regard to staying healthy and fit amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has still not loosened its grip over the world. Firstly, if you have elders in the family with critical diseases, then you should have a service provider and solution in place for a variety of medical needs. This may include everything from nebulization to even other aspects of home healthcare as well.

This is something that you can consider getting easily for the safety and comfort of senior citizens and aged parents at home. You may consider opting for medical equipment on rent should you require the same for elderly people at home as well. Here are some aspects worth keeping in mind:

  • Remain active- Gymnasiums may not always remain open and may have risks as well. However, there are several secure alternatives towards indulging in physical activity without hindering the preventive measures and best practices recommended by the authorities such as social distancing and avoiding bigger crowds. Aerobics may be done easily at home itself and you can also go for long walks or jogs in areas which are nature-friendly and not that crowded in the morning or evenings. You can do body-weight exercises to stay fit including jumping jacks, push-ups and sit-ups among others. You can even consider dancing if that is what you love doing.
  • Get proper sleep- You should remember that getting enough sleep is vital for ensuring proper health and wellness. As per the NIH or National Institutes of Health, under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, sleep is altered by the immune system and this will naturally impact the adaptive and innate functions of the defense mechanism of the body. You should get at least 8 hours of sleep every night if you are between the age of 18 and 60 years. The amount of sleep for the best performance will vary from one individual to another but you should consider getting as much shut-eye as possible.
  • Proper nutrition and dietary requirements- You should be disciplined enough and avoid eating in an emotional manner owing to stress that may lead to huge changes on your body. Consume whole foods such as oranges, leafy vegetables, tomatoes and fresh herbs that give you ample fiber, vitamins and minerals. Eat nutritious and whole foods instead of fast food, junk food items or processed snacking items. Following a proper and healthy diet is imperative for wellbeing at a time when the pandemic is still raging worldwide.
  • Caring Approach- Self-care is the most important care at this time and you should remain supportive of yourself before anyone else. Do the same for others close to you and spend more time with your family members and loved ones while indulging in a little relaxation, recreation and meditation whenever you are up for the same. This will help you achieve a state of overall wellness above everything else. Take a caring approach towards the elderly and ensure that they get nebulization, home nursing and everything else that they will require at home.
  • Proper healthcare- You should always maintain your healthcare regime should you have one. Consume the medicines that your doctor has asked you to without slipping up on the dose or frequency. Get physiotherapy if that has been recommended. Do not neglect your regular healthcare regime at any cost. If required, consider getting medical equipment on rent as per your specific requirements.
