Use of Jodhpur in historical Time

Jodhpurs, as we all know, are first made in South Asian countries. All thanks to Indian tradition, which gave a huge contribution to the invention of jodhpur pants. Earlier, kings and important soldiers had to face lots of difficulties while training themselves.

The main discomforting factor was the clothing, especially the lower body clothing. It made battlefield training difficult for the unfit ones. Secondly, even if a soldier tried to turn or twist his body, the clothing won’t allow them to do so.

But as the jodhpur, better known as churidar in the Indian subcontinent invented, it made it simple for the king to easily twist and turn his body according to the requirement. In short, this trouser was used to enhance body comfort while the wearer is performing any tough activity or movement.

Use of jodhpurs in 21st Century

Normally, when it comes to Jodhpur pants in the modern era, they are mainly worn by horse riders. And yes, there is a reason as to why this pair of trousers is the favourite choice of every horse rider in the United Kingdom.

As mention earlier, the jodhpurs were first used by kings, especially when they go for war or battlefield training practice. The trouser was designed keeping in mind the soldier/king’s horse and the lower body part.

Even now, the horse riders prefer to go for jodhpurs instead of breeches or any other short pants. To provide the riders with a comfortable horse ride, the companies who are manufacturing these trousers ensure the use of the best material.

Other uses

You may have seen a farmer wearing jodhpur-style trousers while you travel in the countryside region. Although, the manufacturer never meant to make clothing for farmers and field workers. Yet still, they seem to love these pants.

Looking at this culture of wearing a horse-riding pant as a field worker, most of the companies modified the traditional design and made certain changes which are favourable for farmers also.

The use is not just limited to farmers and riders, but it has become a popular culture in Latin America. It is a traditional clothing style of every military officer in the parade who rides on a horse. Normally, from the military personnel and national army’s perspective, jodhpurs are seen as clothing associated with riding apparel.

The soldiers who participate in a parade or any other annual function with their horse are supposed to wear a long horse-riding boot and a jodhpur-styled trouser that extends to the ankle region.

Of course, the clothing has to been in a particular design, colour, or theme to follow the dress code.

Last but not least, they are worn for ages by models and stylists. Earlier in the 1920s, ladies used to wear jodhpurs even after horse riding. This became a culture and even now, to show the rich tradition of some nations, these trousers are worn.

Although, the material used for making jodhpurs of such types may differ from those of the riders.
