Salmon is one of the best kinds of fishes available for consumption. It is super delicious and healthy. If you are looking for new and innovative ways to incorporate salmon into your diet, then this article will be of immense help to you. Salmon cake (เค้ก ปลา แซลมอน, which is the term in Thai) is a dish that can be easily prepared at home.

Imagine you’re hosting a party but you don’t want it to have the same old boring food. Or imagine feeding your kids a nutritious salmon dish by disguising it as a tasty treat. This dish will help you achieve your purposes.

What is the Dish Like?

Salmon cake is a compact, elegant dish. It consists of salmon pieces covered with batter and deep-fried. They are super crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside. You can repurpose leftover salmon to make them into delicious salmon cakes instead of letting them go to waste or you can also use fresh roasted salmon or salmon that’s available in a can. The salmon cake goes perfectly with the tartare sauce which can be easily prepared at home.

List of Ingredients For Salmon Cakes

  • Salmon Filet
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper
  • Olive Oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • 1 cup onions diced
  • Half a bell pepper diced
  • Mayonnaise

Directions:

  • Step 1: Place the salmon fillet skin side down on the baking tray, brush it with olive oil and bake it for 10-15 minutes until it’s just cooked. Make sure to preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit first.
  • Step 2: Remove the fillet, wrap it in tin foil and rest it for about ten minutes.
  • Step 3: Separate the skin, remove the bones and let it cool down to room temperature.
  • Step 4: Warm the frying pan at medium heat. Add 1 tbsp butter, olive oil, onion, and bell peppers. Let it fry until it’s soft and golden (8-10 mins approx.) and remove from heat.
  • Step 5: In a mixing bowl, mix the salmon, sautéed vegetables, 2 beaten eggs, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, onion, 3 tbsp mayonnaise, and the minced parsley.
  • Step 6: Knead the mix to form as many salmon cakes as you want.
  • Step 7: Heat butter and olive oil (1tbsp) in a pan and fry the cakes for 4 minutes per side until they turn crispy and golden brown.
  • Step 8: Plate the dish and serve hot with a side of tartare sauce.

That’s how the salmon cake dish is made. Enjoy.
