Your Guide to the Best Morning Skincare Routine

Prepping your skin before you go out should be one of the most important parts of your day. Making sure your skin is protected and prepared to face the heat, dust, and pollution is key to maintaining a Korean-like healthy and glowing skin. Although effects are not seen right away, a gradual process, with patience, is the key to achieve your dream skin in the morning. Here is a step by step Korean skincare guide to making sure your skin is as ready as you are!

Step 1. Wash with Water

Washing your face in the morning removes the accumulated dirt and sebum in your pores from your sleep. However, Korean skincare tends to do it in a much simpler way. They wash their face with only water in the morning. This removes dirt as well as maintains the natural moisture of the face. This also prevents you from overly using a drying cleanser. If you prefer using a cleanser, you can use a mild, water-based cleanser in the morning.

Step 2. Toner

After washing your face with water, it is good to balance your skin’s PH by using a toner. Many wonder if they can skip this part of their skincare, but toning is actually one of the most important steps. Choose a toner that does not strip off your skin’s natural moisture. Toner prepares the skin to absorb the nutrients that you will be putting on your skin.

Step 3. Serum/Ampoule

Serums are important to give your skin the nutrients that it needs so you are protected from dirt, heat, and pollutants throughout the day. Korean serums and ampoules are designed to provide food for Asian skin types. They are suitable for warm weather and humid conditions.

Step 4. Eye Cream

Your eye skin is the thinnest skin on your face. Thus, it is important that you protect the skin around your eyes. Eye cream serves as a barrier that can protect the skin around your eyes by giving it the hydration that it needs. Just as you put eye cream at night, it is also important to put it during the day.

Step 5. Moisturiser with SPF

Having a moisturizer with SPF is like hitting two birds with one stone. After putting eye cream, make sure to put SPF. UV rays can damage the skin’s barrier, preventing it from producing collagen. This then causes dry and damaged skin, which may eventually lead to wrinkles. UV rays can severely damage the skin, causing dark spots, premature wrinkles, and dryness.

Apply sunscreen whether you are going outside or staying indoors, and use a product that has SPF50 or higher. Moisturizing and applying sunscreen are two of the most important parts of your routine, so make sure you never forget them.

Make sure you have a morning routine that prepares you well for any pollutants, dust, heat, and dirt that may accumulate on your skin throughout the day. After doing this, you may apply makeup as you like. If you want to go barefaced, go for it!
