After waiting for nearly four years, Parx Casino has finally received permission to open its mini-casino in Pennsylvania. Residents of Shippensburg township can now celebrate because they will have their first casino open doors soon.
The license was issued by the Pennsylvania gaming control board, giving Parx Casino permission to establish the facility within the Shippensburg township. The casino will be a subsidiary of Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment.
An added opportunity in Shippensburg
Competition is not stiff for the real money online casino industry in Shippensburg. The mini-casino will be 73,000 square feet and will occupy approximately half of the facility formerly owned by the big box. The casino, which will be a mini version of the Parx Casino in Bensalem, will add opportunities to make money to the Shippensburg township community.
Scheduled to open in November
According to John Dixon, the Greenwood Gaming’s Chief Operations Officer, renovation work is expected to start next month. Parx has set aside a budget of $65 million for the renovation work. If all goes well, the facility will be opened in November 2022.
Parx also invests heavily to promote its online businesses, and the company has begun to reap fruits recently. The Shippensburg mini casino will have 500 slot machines and an assortment of electronic table games, allowing residents to play roulette, blackjack, and baccarat through remote dealers.
Parx Casino goals for the future
The casino industry does not just deal with betting only but it has invested in several other fields. One of their other major investments is in accommodation. A good example is Parx Casino which is building a state-of-the-art casino hotel in PA. The industry also has a number of operators listed in the stock market, giving opportunities to customers looking to invest in casino stocks.
Parx Casino is eyeing to venture into a broader market in other US states soon. The expansion into PA is an indication that the company is committed to bringing its services closer to the communities.
The company is planning to establish a sports betting product at the Shippensburg facility in the future after it applies for a license. The Pennsylvania gaming control has licensed a total of five mini-casinos in the entire state.
This shows that the market is still untapped in most towns in PA. The gaming expansion of 2017 allowed casino gambling and wagering to be extended to every corner of the state. It has legalized online gaming, mini-casinos, and video gaming terminals.
